Carmen Valentina Reyes, 66, of Willimantic, CT entered eternal rest on Monday November 6, 2023 in Hartford, CT surrounded by family and friends.
Carmen was born in the Dominican Republic on 05/24/57 to Rosa Elminda Bueno and Benigno Reyes. Carmen was raised there and came to the United States as a young woman. She and her children planted roots in Connecticut where she owned and operated Carmen’s Beauty Salon on Park Street in Hartford for many years before moving the Salon to Willimantic until her retirement. She spent her career transforming woman, men and children and making everyone feel good about themselves. Carmen was truly the life of every gathering she was a part of. She was classy but humble. She had high expectations but was relatable. She embodied love and support. If you needed something you could count on Carmen to help you with it or through it. She will be missed and be remembered by her laugh and contagious energy. But above all she will be remembered for her love and devotion to her children Glenys and Jeffrey.
She was predeceased by her mother, Rosa Elminda, her father, Benigno, her sister, Norma and her brother, Diogenes. Those left to honor her memory is her husband of 26 years, Rafael A. Guzman; her daughter, Glenys C. Rios; her son, Jeffrey Perez; her grandchildren, Suhail, Cynthia, Jayden, Jalyzia, Yenandi and great grandchildren Luca and Josiah; her two brothers , Manuel and Benigno and many nieces, nephews, family members and friends.
Funeral services will be Monday Nov 13, at 11AM at Funeraria del Pilar 71 Prospect St, Willimantic. Burial will follow in New Willimantic Cemetery.
